Mexico - Spa Fever
A new wave of health-conscious travelers is boosting demand for spa vacations in central Mexico
Spa vacations are fast becoming a trend among a health-conscious generation. In Mexico, spa tradition dates back to the time of the Aztecs.
Spas have been part of Mexican culture since pre-Hispanic days. The Aztecs, Maya and other ancient cultures regularly took steam baths scented with herbs. In fact, Emperor Montezuma II frequented mineral-rich hot springs around what is now Mexico City, and would soak for hours in water naturally heated by volcanic action deep within the earth.
Modern Mexican Spas pamper guests with a variety of services that include specials, Swedish and therapeutic massages, acupressure, aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage, Scottish hose and Vichi showers to improve circulation, mud baths, body wraps with herbs and mineral salts, yoga, tai-chi, reflexology, hair styling, nail care and daily personalized exercise sessions.
Mexico offers high-quality spa experiences, as well as good hotel services and reasonable prices. Plus the weather is great and the flight time from the U.S. is relatively short.
Following is a listing of some spas in Central Mexico.
