Las Ventanas al Paraiso - Luxury with a view

lasvent.jpg (18352 bytes)

Las Ventanas al Paraiso (Windows to Paradise) brings another level of luxury to the tip of Baja California Peninsula. Opened summer 1997, this exclusive resort touts itself as "premier five-star property in Los Cabos". Operated by Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, the hotel company’s tradition of excellence is evident in its attention to detail, devotion to style and understated elegance.

The resort blends into its dramatic location. The Mexican-Mediterranean style architecture hugs the upward slope of the terrain; the color schemes are of sand and earthy pastels; and the landscaping uses local boulders, rocks, trees and plants.

Throughout the property there is an unrelenting attention to detail, from latilla screens over the suite patios for soft, filtered sunlight, to the craftsmanship, evident in carved cedar doors and authentic Mexican inlaid pebble "carpets", where the stones form mosaic-like patterns.

Spa pampering, golf and deep-sea fishing draw and upscale clientele. "The Spa at Las Ventanas is the first world-class spa in Cabo" according to Angel Stewart, spa director. "It is used by 70 percent of the resort guests." The spa offers massages, facials and detoxifying and exfoliating treatments. Unique features are open-air massage room and the "Sea and Stars" couples massage, and 80-minute, in-suite massage for two.

According to managing director, in 1998 the spa will be expanded, tennis and squash courts will be added, and 10 more suites will be built.

More than 50% of the clientele hails from California, followed by Texas, New York, Chicago and Phoenix. Internationally, Germany and England are the leaders. The resort is popular with celebrities because of its proximity to Hollywood and its emphasis on privacy.

Typically, guests are in their mid-40s, primarily couples looking for a romantic getaway. The resort does not accept children under 8 between December 20-April 30.

The 56 suites average 960 square feet (the largest standard rooms in Mexico) which makes guests feel they are staying in a private hacienda. In addition, there are four 1,600 sq feet one bedroom superior suites and a 3,000 sq feet three bedroom villa with three full baths, separate dining area, private pool and rooftop terrace. All the suites offer panoramic views of the sea, large living areas, wood-burning fireplaces and furnishings and appointments that feature Mexican Craftsmanship and colorful native art. The suites also have spa tubs, marble showers, private terraces and telescopes for stargazing. Upstairs suites have rooftop patios.

Public areas

Original pieces of art by Mexican and U.S. artists are showcased throughout the resort. Four infinity-edged swimming pools overlook the sea. The Spa features separate areas for men and women with steam rooms, saunas and whirpools connected by a central meditation courtyard. Spa combination packages are available and wellness training program are being developed. The fitness facility provides a wide selection of cardiovascular machines and resistance equipment.

A small conference center caters to exclusive meetings and banquets. Specialty dinners for small groups can be held in the 2,400-bottle wine room.

The resort has an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Jr. Championship golf course that extends from hilly desert terrain down to the beach. Guests also have privileges at nearby Pamilla and Cabo del Sol, which were designed by Jack Nicklaus, and Cabo San Lucas Country Club, designed by Pete Dye.

The hotel’s restaurant offers contemporary Mexican and California cuisine. The Sea Grill is a more casual outdoor eatery. There is also the swim-up bar, where the Sea Grill menu is offered, and the Juice Bar, serving the healthy tropical fruit smoothies. The Wine Room is available by special arrangement for private parties. Room service is available 24 hours a day. Coming soon is a Cigar and Espresso Bar.

The resort has no front desk; guests are personally greeted upon arrival and escorted to their suite. A network of underground tunnels keeps the staff members and service activities out of the sights of guests.

Strongest Selling Points

The resort offers an idyllic setting for an upscale and private romantic escape.
