Day-by-Day
Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive Nice - and your
France tour begins
Your France tour begins at 6:00 PM at Hôtel
Negresco in Nice, France. A transfer is included from Nice Côte d'Azur
Airport to your 5-star luxury hotel, Hôtel Negresco. Welcome to Nice, the
glamorous capital of the French Riviera. Join us for a welcome cocktail
reception and dinner this evening at your historic hotel overlooking the Bay
of Angels, within walking distance of the beach.

Day 2 – From medieval Eze to
glittering Monte-Carlo in Monaco
Tauck's southern France tour begins with a visit to the medieval village of
Eze en route to a glimpse of how the rich, the famous, and the royal live and
play in the Principality of Monaco – defined by Monte-Carlo's famed Casino,
the Prince's Palace and Monaco Cathedral, final resting place of Prince
Rainier and Princess Grace.

Day 3 – Artistic inspirations
amidst the treasures of Provence
Imagine great artists like Paul Cézanne at work amidst the spectrum of colors
found in Provence as you view Mont Ste-Victoire and take a sightseeing
excursion in the lovely town of Aix-en-Provence. Travel to ancient Arles,
exploring the historic Old Town noted for its narrow streets, medieval
stonework and lingering evidence of its ancient Roman residents. Spend two
nights in Arles at a stately hotel, Hotel Jules César, once a 17th-century
convent.

Day 4 – Ancient bridges,
antiquities & the landscapes of van Gogh
A southern France tour isn't complete without traveling through the Provençal
landscapes that inspired Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh, where olive groves,
cypress trees, and flowers the color of the rainbow greet the visitor. Begin
today's travels with an adventurous guided walk on the Pont du Gard, a
2,000-year-old Roman aquaduct. Then visit Mas des Barres, an award-winning
olive oil producer in Maussane les Alpilles. Their product is a gourmet
delight you'll discover at an olive oil tasting and lunch. Journey to St-Rémy-de-Provence,
where Vincent van Gogh spent one year of his life. In 1889 he checked himself
into Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, a monastery that served as an asylum; his stay
here resulted in a period of creativity that produced 150 of his most beloved
paintings including Starry Night, Wheat Field
with Cypresses and Irises. See
the hospital, then spend some free time exploring St-Rémy before returning to
Arles for an evening at leisure.

Day 5 – The ancient walls of
Avignon and a rail excursion to Paris
The ancient, walled city of Avignon, where Popes reigned from 1309 until 1376,
is one of the most interesting places in France. A visit to the Palais des
Papes reveals the Gothic glories with which the Popes of Avignon surrounded
themselves. Board the TGV, one of
Europe’s fastest trains, bound for Paris and an unforgettable three-night stay
in the very heart of the inimitable French capital.

Day 6 – Bonjour la Cité – the
France tour continues
A morning Paris, France tour encompasses some of the city's best-known
landmarks. See the Champs Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde,
the Eiffel Tower, and inspiring Notre Dame Cathedral. Spend the rest of the
day as you wish – your stylish, elegant boutique luxury hotel is ideally
located in the heart of the city looking out over four Parisian landmarks -
Musée du Louvre, the Opera Garnier, the Comédie Français, and Place du Palais

Day 7 - Musée du Louvre / Seine
River cruise
Once a royal residence, today the Musée du Louvre houses some of the world’s
best-known artistic masterpieces in its extensive collections of paintings,

just steps from your hotel before spending some free time discovering Paris as
you please. Join us this evening for a farewell dinner cruise on the River
Seine, gliding slowly past the illuminated beauty of Paris. Such a memorable

Day 8 – Journey home
Tauck's southern France tour ends in Paris.
Your transfer is included from the Hôtel du Louvre to Charles de Gaulle
International Airport. You should allow a minimum of 2 1/2 hours for flight
check-in.

Note – Dining experiences throughout
France are renowned for their culinary delights, but also tend to be very
lengthy. In order to best balance your valuable time, some à la carte menus on
this tour have been slightly modified while still offering fine regional
selections.
Need to Know
Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars.
Hotels – All hotel accommodations are
included. Two-bedded rooms with private bath are reserved in most hotels.
Quadruples and triples are usually a two-bedded room plus one rollaway cot,
where available, and are not recommended for comfort. Quadruple accommodations
are available only on select itineraries. On some itineraries, rollaway cots may
not be available and triple and quadruple accommodations must make use of
existing bedding. At some properties in Europe where rooms and beds are small, a
triple may be accommodated in a single and double-bedded room. Connecting and
adjacent rooms are by request only and are not guaranteed. For safety and
security purposes, at time of booking, room accommodations for children under 18
years of age must be made in the same room as an accompanying adult.
Child/Adult Pricing
Children under 18 must be booked in a room with at least one adult. Quadruple
accommodations are not available for four persons 18 and older. To qualify for a
child discount, the child’s birth date must be provided at time of booking.
Meals – Most meals are included as
specified in the itinerary. Meal codes are: B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner.
Transportation – All motor coach and rail
transportation within the tour are included.
Gratuities Included – All necessary
gratuities for luggage handling, bellmen, doormen, dining room servers,
housekeepers, local guides, rail crew, drivers and Tauck Directors are included.
Tauck Director – Each London to Paris
tour is conducted by a Tauck Director who remains with the group throughout the
duration of the tour. Your Tauck Director is a professional, fully-trained
employee of Tauck.
No Options Sold – With the exception of
select options detailed in the itinerary, Tauck’s price includes entertainment,
special dinners, sightseeing and most activities. Tauck Directors sometimes
assist with information on other free-time activities, but will not sell you any
“extras.”
Airfare to the tour departure point and from the
tour ending point is not included. Airfare may be purchased from Tauck
for travel originating in the United States.
Hotel Rooms Before or After Tours – Due
to time schedules and the possibility of flight delays, many guests prefer to
make hotel arrangements for the night preceding their London to Paris tour. As a
service, Tauck will make reservations before or after your tour upon request.
Reservations are on a space available basis and must be booked through Tauck;
charges will be added to your tour cost. Note: Airport transfers are not
included for these bookings. When traveling with children, ensuring that
everyone is well rested at the start of any journey adds immeasurably to the joy
of the trip. We recommend that you arrive in London the day before the London to
Paris tour begins. We will be happy to make such hotel reservations for your
family; inquire at booking.
Personal Expenses such as phone calls,
room service, alcoholic and bar beverages, mineral waters, soft drinks, laundry,
airline excess luggage charges and other optional incidental extras are not
included and may be significant.
Luggage Responsibility – Although every
effort is made to handle guests’ luggage carefully, we cannot be responsible,
assume liability or accept claims for loss or damage to luggage and personal
effects due to breakage, theft, or fair wear and tear through hotel, airline or
group carrier handling. It is important for your own self-interest and
protection that you make certain you have adequate insurance to cover these
