There is so much to see and do in Stockholm. Apart from the traditional sights such as the royal flagship Vasa, Millesgården, the Stockholm City Hall and the Royal Palace we recommend that you discover the city as its inhabitants know it.

Bicycle
With Request Sweden the group can cycle with a guide since we have an extensive network of bicycle roads. It is a fantastic feeling to be in the midst of the city, and fifteen minutes later lie in the grass with picnic baskets at Djurgården. Cycling in Stockholm is guaranteed to be a memory for life.

Canoeing
Stockholm is the ultimate city for travelling by water. Why not paddle around one of the city’s many islands and go ashore to visit a café or a restaurant?

On foot
If you prefer to take a walk there are many suggestions, depending on the group. In Sweden’s capital Stockholm there is a national park right in the middle of the city. It is the world’s first National City Park and it is called Ekoparken. The concept is to contribute to sustainable development in Stockholm through an ecological approach, while at the same time protecting a royal “green lung” with a unique mixture of nature and culture. Here one can go on a guided boat trip, take a walk or go by bus. There are also nice walks in the inner city with beautiful architecture, glittering water and ravishing hills with a fine view.

Cruise passengers
If you arrived with cruise ship, meet your guide at the pier. Using public transportation with a guide (bus stop 500 meters from the ship from port Frihamnen). (Otherwise private car and driver can be arranged for transportation). You guide will show you the exterior of Stadion, place for the Summer Olympic Games in 1912 and our Royal Library on the way. After 10 minutes you are in the heart of  Stockholm, at Stureplan.

Jewish Heritage
From there it´s a 10 minutes walk to the Great Synagogue (masorti) that is an official national historical building, an edifice landmark, built in 1870 and is one of the very few remaining synagogues in Europe that was built before World War II.  (Visit to the synagogue need to be arranged in advance. Closed on Saturday).  Meet members of Jewish community and learn about the Great Synagogue, Holocaust monument and Jewish Community House and history. The visit will take approx. 45 minutes. After the visit to the synagogue, you will visit the Holocaust Monument, where a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust is engraved on the wall leading from the entrance of The Great Synagogue to the Jewish Community House. Carl XVI Gustav, King of Sweden dedicated the monument in 1998 and it records 8,500 victims who are relatives of Jews new residing in Sweden. The 42-meter monument serves as a link between a monstrous past and a future in which there should be no room for such atrocities to be repeated.

Other sightseeing
Walk on to the Old Town. We´ll see the exteriors of our Opera house, Parliament and Royal Castle, explore with your guide narrow medieval streets and houses. Visit Storkyrkan, the cathedral of Stockholm, oldest church in the city. It was originally built as a small parish church in the 13th century by Birger Jarl, who founded Stockholm.

Break for lunch recommended by your guide from many restaurants in the Old town.  

Optional: visit  Vasa ship or lovely open air museum Skansen. The guide will spend the rest of the day with clients to show city. :

*About the Vasa ship and Skansen

The Vasa Museum is Scandinavia's most visited museum, located in Stockholm, capital of Sweden. The Museum was inaugurated in 1990. In the large shiphall stands the warship Vasa - the only remaining, intact 17th century ship in the world. The lower rig has been rebuilt, complete with masts, stays and shrouds. Just like the Vasa would have looked like when set for winter in
harbour. The wreck, salvaged in 1961, is now once again a complete ship. Surrounding the ship are several permanent exhibitions, cinemas, a shop and a restaurant.

Skansen Open Air Museum was founded in 1891 and features 150 cultural-historic buildings from all over Sweden. It includes a zoo with wild and domestic Nordic animals.
