Drive through countryside villages to the Benedictine abbey of Montserrat Monastery which contains the most revered image in Catalonia, the Virgin of Montserrat, patron saint of the catalan people.  You will be able to attend to a recital by the Escolania, one of the oldest choirs in Europe and visit the museum.

MADRID

 ARTISTIC MADRID HALF DAY CITY TOUR

This visit is to the two most famous structures of the city: the Royal Palace, the home of Spanish Royalty from the 18th century until the time of exile of king Alfonso XIII. Today it is used as the setting for official receptions by the present King of Spain, Juan Carlos I. The Prado Museum is one of the world’s great art galleries. It displays paintings from the 12th to the 18th century. The most famous exhibits are those of Velázquez, Goya and El Greco.

Visit the museum Centro de Arte Reina Sofia of Modern Art inagurated by the Spanish Kings Juan Carlos I & Sofia the 10th September 1.992. Permanent collections of the most important spanish artists: Picasso, Miró,  Dalí, Gargallo, Gutiérrez Solana, Tápies, Chillida and Julio González. Then we visit the Real Ermita of San Antonio de la Florida, it is a Goya masterpiece and final resting place of the Spanish artist. The chapel was built on the instructions of Carlos IV and the ceilings of the chapel were painted by Goya himself in 1798.

Visit the Prado museum with the most important spanish painters such as Goya, Velázquez, Murillo & el Greco. The splendid and unique Royal Palace, the home of Spanish Royalty from the 18th century until the time of exile of King Alfonso XIII. The Almudena cathedral, the building's exterior is an example of eclectic 19th-century design. TOLEDO FULL DAY EXCURSION.

One of the oldest and most interesting historical cities of Europe, reflects the many cultures that have formed it, and perhaps better than any other city reflects the many moods of Spain’s art and history. Visits are made to the magnificent Gothic Cathedral, the ancient Jewish Synagogue, the Church of San Tomé and the home of the famous painter, El Greco. There is also a visit to the factory where black and gold damascine steel of Toledo is made.  

AVILA  &  SEGOVIA FULL DAY EXCURSION.

Avila, a fortified city situated on an hilltop in the heart of Castile, is best known as the birthplace of Santa Teresa and for the impressive medieval walls, the oldest and best preserved in Spain. A visit will be made to the Convent of Santa Teresa, built on the site where the Saint was born; the Royal Monastery of Santo Tomas, founded by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabel; and the Romanesque and Gothic Cathedral.

Continue to Segovia, universally famous for the Aqueduct, an imposing engineering marvel dating from Roman times. Here there is also a visit to the Alcazar, an enchanting fairytale fortress castle.

 EL ESCORIAL & VALLEY OF THE FALLEN HALF DAY EXCURSION

The Monastery of El Escorial is said to be one of the architectural wonders of the world. It was built by Juan Herrera, being the personal idea of King Felipe II, who ordered its construction to commemorate the Spanish victory at the Battle of San Quintin in 1557. It was designed to be the burial place of the Royal Family in Spain. A few miles from El Escorial, in a wild valley of the Guadarrama Range, lies "El Valle de los Caidos" (Valley of the Fallen) a monument to the Civil War dead. This is a crypt made by cutting through 850 feet of solid rock. The stone cross of 150 meters high rises above a Basilica carved 250 meters deep into a rock.

First settled by the seafaring Phoenicians because of its natural harbour, and later conquered by the Arabs, it finally fell into the Spanish hands in 1487. Overlooking the central part of the city one can see the remains of the Arab fortress Alcazaba, and adjacent to it the Gibralfaro castle, originally Phoenician, and later rebuilt by the Arabs. In the centre of the city we will visit the unfinished Cathedral, Lady of the Incarnation, built on the site of a ruined mosque, the jewish quarter, the Palace of Buenavista, housing the Picasso museum. Later, visit the bullring and finally taste some of Malaga’s sweet wines.

RONDA FULL DAY EXCURSION

A drive through the rugged Serrania de Ronda will bring you to a broad open plateau surrounded on all sides by jagged mountains. Ronda stands on an enormous outcrop of rock. The centre of town is split by a Bridge built in the 18th century. Wander across the bridge and you are in La Ciudad (old town) inhabited in old days by groups of marauding bandits. During the course of the day you will also see the town’s impressive Cathedral, the Bullring and the Moorish House.

Climbing up into the mountains that surround Malaga, we make our way toward the famed city of Granada. At the foot of the Sierra Nevada lies Granada, a city steeped in history of the ancient Moors.
