Heritage Family Tour
We've done this itinerary in June 2006 for a family of 5.
Arrive Dublin, Meet at Dublin Airport and embark on a 4hr City Tour before being checked into Hotel. This will give the group a good introduction to Dublin, it’s culture, history, music and evening entertainment .

Day 2, 20 June

Depart Dublin this morning and travel to Belfast, touring en route. If liked ,en route we will visit Newgrange in Co Meath, a historic pre-Christian settlement which predates the Pyramids by some 500 years. Continue on through the countryside, lunching along the way. Alternatively, we can continue straight to Belfast, from where I understand Mr Umbrecht’s family comes. Enjoy a tour of Belfast and its murals before arriving at the Hotel Europa for dinner and overnight.

Day 4, 22 June

This morning, we travel further north towards Antrim. Along the way we will visit the infamous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, to walk the bridge takes approx 15 minutes, but is well worth it! Continue on along the coast, up to the Giant’s Causeway, have a small lunch on the way. Spend some time at this amazing coastline, view the ‘giant’ rock formations and walk on history. Visit the Bushmills Distillery which is the oldest licenced distillery
Drive up along the northern coastline to Bushmills for dinner and overnight.

Days 5,6, 23-24 June

After breakfast, we will drive a more direct route to Co Galway, to arrive there in the late afternoon (this drive will take approx 5.30hrs). Driving through some parts of County Donegal our first stop will be at Yeats Grave to see where the famous character lived. From there we will meet you in Yeats Tavern for a light lunch before heading towards Foxford Woolin Mills to see how this famous material is made. From Foxford we will travel to Cong and the Ashford Castle.
Connemara National Park and hike up the mountain on the new walking trail which overlooks mountains, lakes, valleys and the ocean.
Visit the Galway city and the Cliffs of Moher which stand some 668 feet above the Atlantic ocean. In doing this you will travel through the Burren, a region which comprises 100 square miles of mass limestone rock and is famous for its flora and fauna.

Day 7, 25 June
Breakfast at hotel
After a leisurely breakfast, take time to stroll along the streets of Adare itself, see the thatched roofed cottages and enjoy the atmosphere of the village. We will then continue over towards Dromoland Castle, and, if time permits, visit Bunratty Castle and Folk Park as we travel. The Castle dates from 1425. Here you will see at first hand how the people of the region lived and worked around the turn of the 20th century, early 1900s. Arrive to Dromoland Castle in good time to enjoy your stay there.
