Green and gorgeous, Corfu is the most luscious of all the Greek islands. Follow winding roads past groves of ancient gnarly olive trees; linger in the elegant Parisian arcade. With your guide, stroll past the medieval fortress and the Royal Palace of St George and St Michael, an imposing building built of yellow Maltese stone. Continue through the Venetian sector of the Old Town to the Byzantine Church of St Spiridon. The Achillion Palace, located in the village of Gastouri, was erected in 1890 for Elizabeth (Sissy), the Empress of Austria as the solace of her soul. It was used as her summer retreat. Later the Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany bought the Palace. 4 hour tour Drive to Kanoni-Paleopolis, visit Achillion Palace and the town of Corfu, including St. Spyridon Church.
