Paradisus Punta Cana, All-Inclusive Beach Resort

On the easternmost point of the second-largest island in the Caribbean lies an exotic resort waiting to be discovered. The Paradisus Punta Cana All-Inclusive Beach Resort  offers customers tantalizing mangroves, first-class accommodations and a beachside sprinkled with palm trees.

Because the resort is all-inclusive, guests can eat and drink at any of hotel's bars and restaurants, order room service, take advantage of myriad activities, and order cigarettes or cigars to their hearts' content without paying along the way. With this freedom, clients can enjoy the natural beauty of Punta Cana at ease - as a vacation should be.

Clientele

This resort attracts mostly couples and honeymooners, although families dot the property here and there. Americans make up just under 50 percent of the Dominican Republic's clientele and visit most during winter vacation months of September through February.

Accommodations

Opened in December 1995, the Paradisus' 434 rooms are currently undergoing a $5 million renovation, including upgrades in furnishings and amenities. In addition, 96 rooms, a complete spa center and a Japanese restaurant will be built. Renovations are supposed to be completed in December 2000. Currently, the property has 29 two-story bungalows, all including a roomy living area on a different level from the sleeping area, furnished terrace, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, king-size or double beds, cable TV with movie channels, a refrigerator and direct-dial phone with voice mail. A spacious bathroom includes a hair dryer, shaving mirror and safe.

Public Areas

Through a maze of tropical ponds, the outdoor lobby, lobby bar, disco-pub, casino and stage (where nightly shows take place) can be found. A shuttle stand sits at the back of the lobby for guests who prefer not to walk on the paths through the lush, well-kept property to the restaurants, pool, beach or bungalows.

Clients will also enjoy the expansive lake-style swimming pool with a swim-up bar, and the property's white-sand beach. Dividing the beach and the pool is a recreational facility where all sorts of activities are arranged. Meringue and aerobic classes on the beach are extremely popular, as the local painting technique classes and theme dinners. Guests also have access to a wedding gazebo, daily mini-club for children 4 through 12, fitness center and nearby 18-hole golf course.

Dining

The Paradisus boasts eight restaurants, each serving a different cuisine. The main restaurant, Hybiscus, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet-style alongside of the beach.  For theme dining the hotel offers Sakura for Japanese flavor, Antojitos for Mexican cuisine, Albufera for a Spanish menu and the Chinese Pavilion. Informal lunch and dinner can be enjoyed at either Pizzeria Dolce Vita or the Beach Grill Barbecue. The Paradisus also offers 24-room service under its all-inclusive plan.

Service

Although not all employees speak English, they will always guide guests toward someone who does. Service invariably comes with a smile, and the bartenders are particularly eager to please.
