Nevis, the sister island to St. Kitts in the tradewind-kissed Leeward Islands, is home to the Four Seasons, a premier luxury resort on 350 oceanfront acres.  By the time guests arrive at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis, they are tired. But the long journey, which includes as its final leg a launch from St. Kitts to the resort's private dock, makes the rewards all the more magical.    You know you’ve arrived when a pool attendant offers to spritz you with Evian. With its spacious, mahogany-furnished rooms and a multitude of pampering amenities, the Four Seasons Nevis sets the standard for luxury in West Indies. On most days, a halo of clouds crowns the summit of Nevis Peak, a volcanic cone that rises 2,322 feet above the sea to define the island's landscape. It's the first thing visitor see as they approach this pristine island. As their launch draws closer, the obvious becomes increasingly clearer: guests have come to a world that is far removed from the one they spent so much time escaping. It may take a while to get there, but Nevis is worth the effort. The Four Season Resort is the only major resort on the island. Shortly after it opened in 1991, it became the first Caribbean resort to receive AAA's Five Diamond's award.  You know you’ve arrived when a pool attendant offers to spritz you with Evian. With its spacious, mahogany-furnished rooms and a multitude of pampering amenities, the Four Seasons Nevis sets the standard for luxury in West Indies.

Lodging is clustered in 12 two-story beach cottages. Designed with plantation-style exteriors and built with lots of local materials, each unit complements the islands' environment. The guest rooms have spacious bathrooms and screened-in verandahs. Standard amenities include cable TV, a VCR, safe, iron and hair dryer. Thoughtful extras include slippers and robes, sun-care products, candles and laundry soap. Each cottage is within a walking distance of the Great House (social and dining hub), but some are closer.

Designed to reflect the athmosphere of a West Indian plantation great house, the main public areas are stately yet entirely inviting. At every turn the open-air design rewards guests with island views.

The Four Season's Robert Trent's Golf Course is 18 hole, winds up the volcanic slopes of Nevis Peak ot its hallmark 15th hole, then it dramatically descends to the ocean edge for the final green.

Other recreational activities include a health club and 10 tennis courts with Peter Burwash international pros including several for night play. There are clinics and individual and group lessons.

In addition to the beach, there are two pools and use of watersport equipment is complimentary for guests.

Additional amenities at the Four Seasons Nevis include multilingual concierge service; express laundry/dry cleaning; one-hour clothes pressing; complimentary shoe-shine; twice-day housekeeping - and, of course, there is that Evian Spritz.

If guests tire of being pampered, they can saunter down the beach about a hundred yards to hang out at Sunshine’s Bar and Grill, a legendary Caribbean attraction. It’s a palm-thatched shack with a sand floor, and patrons sit on hand-hewn logs, including the many celebrities as Michael Bolton and JoBeth Williams.

Dining is a gourmet treat at the Four Seasons Nevis. The Grill Room serves breakfast and dinner, the Dining Room offers a more formal setting for dinner, with an innovative menu that changes daily and always includes a West Indian favorite. The Cabana serves lunch and cocktails on the pool deck; and breakfast is available at the Sports Pavilion. For evening beverages, music and spectacular sunset views, guests head for the Ocean Terrace. Or they hole up in the Library, an intimate bar lined with bookshelves and collectibles. The Tap Room offers an entertainment lounge with billiards, bar and games. The dining room makes an enchanting statement about West Indian great houses after each it was modeled. The bill of flavors local specialties, especially seafood. There is also 24 hour room service.

With 700 employees on hand, guests can be assured of getting exactly what they want, when they want it. In this setting nothing seems to be beyond the ability of the staff.  Poolside pampering, for example, includes lavishly dressed lounge chair and iced towels.

The resort's remote location and Four Season's stellar service standards make a resort a standout for its exclusivity and style. Everything in resort seems to fit, as if it's been settled in for some time.
