Hotel Spa Ixtapan, Mexico
This large resort is located on the site where the ancient Aztec emperor Montezuma used to come to enjoy the therapeutic mineral springs. Today, more than ever, visitors are still coming here, attracted by the springs, the spa, the resort's extensive facilities, and the excellent value. A week's stay at the Ixtapan Hotel & Spa includes a daily massage and facial, and numerous other beauty treatments, as well as the advantages of eating in the spa dining room and participating in the daily exercise programs. There are a variety of packages available, including the Diet Package for guests who want to lose weight, improve fitness, and receive beauty treatments. The Relax Package is for people who need to de-stress, with yoga classes, shiatsu massage and acupuncture sessions, while the Sports Package offers mountain bike rides and excursions to interesting sites in the surrounding area balanced with sport intensive massages, for those who want to challenge their fitness level. The special 4-week Vibrance Package allows uests to experience all of the above plus Spanish lessons for an extended stay at a great price. The hotel has recently undergone extensive renovations, has upgraded its fitness facilities, and created a beautiful new spa treatment center. The tennis and golf facilities are right on the property, and instruction from expert pros in either sport are included in the spa packages. A variety of other features at the resort include a miniature train ride around the scenic property, horse-drawn carriage rides, evening dances, and bowling. The area offers a wealth of archeological sites and scenic lakes that can be explored on foot, by mountain bike, or by car. There is also excellent shopping in the artisan stores in the nearby town of Taxco. Mexico's first resort spa, the Ixtapan has a 40-year tradition of offering wonderful, healthy vacations.
