Le Meridien Cancun unveiled the full-service Spa Del Mar in August, 1999. The 15,000-square foot facility is intended to be a central feature of the resort, which opened in October 1998 as Le Meridien Hotels and Resorts’ first Mexico property. Spa Del Mar features steam and inhalation rooms, saunas, Jacuzzis, cold plunges, Swiss showers, a cascading waterfall whirpool and 14 treatment rooms. Among the services available are body treatments such as skin exfoliation and body wraps; facials; hydrotherapy; massage, including aromatherapy, Shiatsu, reflexology and moonlight massage on the beach; foot treatments, and salon services such as hair styling and manicures. A complete fitness center also is available at the spa.

The property created three packages incorporating treatments in the new spa. The three-night program include accommodations, breakfast daily, a spa product gift, and four to six spa treatments, depending on the package selected. Prices are for 1999.

Spa Escape from $1,415 per room, double, features four treatments.

Spa Sampler includes five treatments and has a starting rate for $1,929 per room, double.

Spa Del Mar incorporates six treatments and is priced starting at $2,039 per room, double.

The packages also include access to the spa’s fitness center, as well as aerobics classes and the use of tennis courts. La Meridien Cancun sits between the Caribbean Sea and the Nichupte Lagoon.

This upscale resort was designed to have a boutique-style hotel atmosphere, wit ha casually elegant ambience reflecting French and other European touches while incorporating the culture of Cancun and Mexico. The property features 218 rooms and suites; three cascading swimming pools linked by waterfalls; two tennis courts; water sports; two dining venues; a bar; a lobby lounge, and five boutique stores. The resort also offers a supervised children program with a clubhouse, play equipment and a wading pool.
